Millies Quilts
Longarm Quilting Services

Millie’s Quilts is an affordable, professional long arm machine quilting service specializing in hand-quided, allover edge-to-edge (Pantograph) designs and limited custom quilting. We are located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and serve customers in the area directly and all over the world by mail. We have chosen not to offer computerized quilting, because we prefer the craftsman aspect of the process. Hand-quided quilting will result in slight variations, giving it a hand-crafted result as opposed to a mass-produced, “cookie cutter” look.
We offer the following Longarm services:
· All-over (Pantograph) designs by free hand – click the “Quilting Options” link at the top of the page to see available Pantograph designs. You also can email us for a quote on designs we don’t have listed.
· Machine basting for hand quilting
· Custom quilting options, including allover meandering, loops and waves, outlining using arcs and swirls. For details on custom stitching email custserv@milliesquilts.com with your requirements.
· Choice of the complete line of Superior brand thread to match or contrast with your quilt.
We also offer the following services or products:
· Supply of fabrics, backing and batting, and a complete line of quilting and sewing notions and tools. Click link: www.shorelinehandwerks.com
· Custom patchwork quilts made to order. Prices for custom-made quilts vary depending on size of quilt and complexity of design.
· Accuquilt custom fabric cutting in many shapes and sizes –email custserv@shorelinehandwerks.com for details.
· Custom quilt design using the Electric Quilt software. We can show you how a quilt pattern will look in many different fabric, color, and size combinations before you make your quilt.
Browse through our quilting design options page, and then go to the Estimate Request option to receive a NO COST/NO OBLIGATION custom estimate for your project. Please email us at custserv@milliesquilts.com with any questions you might have, and decide on any optional services you may need. Prepare your quilt, bring it in or send it to us (see Helpful Hints for details), and we’ll let you know when it arrives safely and when it will be scheduled for completion.
About Us:
Millie’s Quilts is owned and operated by Stephen and Marsha Sachs (yes, Steve quilts too!), using our APQS Millenium machine.
We also manage an online business, Shoreline Handwerks (Click link: www.shorelinehandwerks.com), which specializes in fabric, notions, tools and supplies for quilting and sewing. We are both avid golfers and enjoy the beauty of the Outer Banks on the golf course when we’re not quilting! We also enjoy spending time at home with our playful cat, also named Millie!
We purchased our APQS Millenium (“Millie”) in early 2009 and have spent our time since then taking classes and learning as much as possible about her. We have quilted several projects for ourselves and others in the process. You can find photos of some of them on our gallery page. “Millie” is set up on a 14-foot table, which allows a quilt as large as 144” to be mounted. It is equipped with a stitch regulator, which ensures even, consistent stitches throughout the quilt.
Changes:
We value our professional reputation very highly and will treat your project as our own. If you would like to make any changes to the pattern, thread(s), etc., which are noted on the front of the Order Form, please let me know as soon as possible. Please ensure you get a confirmation from us concerning the change(s). Don’t assume that emails and voicemails always go through.
Once work has begun on your quilt, any changes made by you will be made at your additional expense. You will be charged for the time spent to prepare the quilt for the changes that you are requesting. There is a $40/hr charge for preparing your quilt for any changes, including removal of any or all of the stitching that has already been put into your quilt.
The estimated costs listed on the front of the Order Form will be re-calculated to reflect the time it takes to prepare your quilt for the changes and the cost of the changes you are requesting. Once you agree to the cost of the change we will proceed with the work.
Guarantee:
Many people are under the impression that Longarm quilting is an “exact” art. In fact, the machine is hand-guided by a human being; even when under computer control, minor variations will occur due to changes in fabric, seams, piecing variations, etc. Please understand that quilting is not/will not be “perfect”; and as such, it enhances the “hand made” look that we all cherish in our quilts.
Millie’s Quilts guarantees the quality of the quilting that we do for you, our valued customer. The terms of the guarantee are as follows:
· If there is a problem with the quilt for which Millie’s Quilts is responsible, you must let Millie’s Quilts know within 72 hours of when the quilt is returned to you as documented in the delivery confirmation.
· Millie’s Quilts will use every reasonable means at our disposal to make it right.
· If that is not feasible, Millie’s Quilts will issue a credit for the cost of quilting labor only. Batting, backing, binding, and thread charges will not be included in the credit.
· The credit is the maximum liability of Millie’s Quilts, and this guarantee supersedes any and all guaranties implied by law, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
· The credit will be redeemable for ninety (90) days from the issue date at either Millie’s Quilts or Shoreline Handwerks.
